I woke up the other night with another great idea for a business. In my dream I was in a mall and was outside a cookie store. This store had switchback lines (probably leftover from the Disney experience) leading to several cash registers. [Let me preface by the fact that I love the In-N-Out idea of having a quality product with limited choices.] You could choose from 5-7 cookies (Sugar, Peanut Butter, World’s Best, Oatmeal Raisin, Sugar Free (using Truvia), White Chocolate and Macadamia Nut, etc.). Before you get to the register, you have several 6″ x 6″ paper bags to choose from each with different non-profit organizations (Red Cross, etc.). Once you choose a bag, you tell the cashier what cookie you want and then each cookie you buy would go towards funding for that organization. Of course they are going to ask you, “Do you want milk with that?” There might be a stand to add icing and sprinkles too.
Anyway, this would be a non-profit organization itself. Most days you could choose what organization you want to donate too, and sometimes there would be weeks where the company would choose a relief to give to in light of current events, like the Japan Tsunami.
I even thought about utilizing volunteers in the community for workers and having local grocers donate ingredients.
Just another idea from Lee. =)
